Starting the Paleo Diet!

Hello everyone,

Tomorrow I am starting the Paleo Diet aka "The Cave Man diet". Im starting it to keep my insulin levels in check because I have PCOS ( Polycystic Ovary Syndrome).  I don't want to fix the symptoms with birth control, I would rather try and fix this naturally through diet.  The symptoms are: weight problem (especially hard to lose weight), very bad acne ( I have horrible cystic acne all over my chin which is extremely painful), high testosterone levels (you can get those check by a doctor), elevated insulin levels and hair loss to name a few!

Basically with this diet I'm cutting out all dairy, grains and sugar. This isn't a drastic change for me since I normally eat very clean. It will be hard not to eat ice cream though! >.< (It's my weakness!!)

Thats a link to the foods i can and cannot eat if you are interested!

This diet is very big in the Crossfit world, which Im excited to join in the fall when I am back at school! :)

Hopefully this goes well! I will keep you updated! :)

  1. I've had a number of the symptoms you listed over the last year however, my Dr insists that as I have regular cycles I can't have PCOS cause thats one of the main symptoms.. However, I have the high testorone, cystic acne and cysts in general appearing in different parts of my body and hair loss too! I've been researching this and came across the same diet reccomendation however have been hesitant to start it as I always thought it'd be hard to maintain! I look forward to hearing your results but and hopefully finding the motivation to go onto it myself!

    1. I was very hesitant to start this diet as well, because its almost everything I've learned NOT to do in my nutrition classes. Im reading a book by Rob Wolf on the Paleo diet and its very convincing and makes SO MUCH sense! I recommend reading it!! Im enjoying it as of right now, but I only started a little while ago. It is a tad hard to maintain but I found packing my lunch the night before with certain snacks I am able to eat works wonders! Also I thought it was going to be very restricting but there are a ton of sites out there with millions of recipes which all look TO DIE FOR! :) I hope you get the courage and motivation to try it! I will keep you updated through my blog! :)
